What's happening
A download pulls the terminal's configuration down from the processor again. If the terminal started behaving oddly — declining cards it used to take, printing the wrong header, showing an error you've never seen — a download is the first thing to try, because it puts the settings back to a known good state.
Before you start
- Close the current batch first if you have open transactions
- Confirm the terminal is on the network — the connection icon should be solid
- Set aside about ten minutes; don't take cards while it runs
Fix it
- From the idle screen, press the menu key.
- Choose Admin, then enter your manager passcode.
- Choose Download, then Start.
- The screen shows a progress counter. Leave it alone — do not unplug it.
- When it finishes, the terminal restarts on its own.
- Run one $1.00 test sale, confirm it approves, then void it.
Did that work?
Yes — you're back in service.
No — note the exact error on screen and call us with it.
